Moore Law Whanganui was established in 2006 by Richard Moore, who founded the practice after serving as a Partner in Wellington and Whanganui. Following the well-earned retirement of both Richard and his wife, Dot McKinnon—who served the firm for many years as a Registered Legal Executive—the practice has moved into a proud new chapter of family leadership. Richard’s son, Rob Moore, now leads the firm as Partner, carrying forward the legacy his father began.

Rob is joined by Helen Hale, who was welcomed into the practice in 2011 when her family relocated to Whanganui from Manawatu. Together, they continue to provide expert legal guidance across Commercial, Employment, and Property Law, as well as Estate Planning, Trusts, and Relationship Property.

The firm’s impact on the region is significant: Rob and Helen have collectively helped at least a thousand Whanganui locals into their first homes, while the firm has worked with more than five hundred companies in the greater Whanganui region, building the solid legal platforms necessary for local businesses to succeed.

The riverside offices of Moore Law are housed in a stunning 1899 heritage villa overlooking the majestic Whanganui River, offering an inviting and relaxed atmosphere for clients and staff alike.

Rob remains deeply integrated into the community, providing pro bono work regarding KiwiSaver and maintaining heavy involvement with the Whanganui Squash Club, football, and darts. He also serves on the board of RISE, an organisation dedicated to stopping violence and rehabilitating offenders, where he contributes essential legal advice.
